There’s a little trick when it comes to the game of golf: the way you carry yourself on the green far outweighs how you play the game. Golf swagger, if you will. Don’t get me wrong, its authentic skills that will get you the W, but working towards that inevitably takes time and right now all you have is your reputation (possibly even a job offer) on the line. Don’t fret, BlackEnterprise.com caught up with Rodney Green, director of golf at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club, who briefed us on the dos and don’ts of golfing—whether you’re a beginner or a well-seasoned golfer. You can catch the PGA professional giving one-on-one instruction at The Black Enterprise Pepsi Golf and Tennis Challenge this Labor Day weekend (August 30-September 3, 2012)--Janel Martinez

Come the end of this month, the Olympics will be played out for all to see on NBC, but social-savvy fans and sponsors are set to connect with audiences on various social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. (Not to mention, NBCOlympics.com will live stream every single event and the network will provide two different apps for mobile devices.) With nearly everyone toting a smartphone, the main sporting event will spark record-level engagement on popular social networking sites; it’s not a conversation everyone had access to during previous Olympic games. Web access has increased greatly since the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, China. According to the International Telecommunications Union, there were approximately 1.5 billion Internet users worldwide (23% of the world’s total population). By July 27, that number will jump to about 2.3 billion users—an average of 33% of the total population. With the games fast approaching, Mashable outlined how the popular networks stack up today:

JOIN ASSOCIATIONS. If you’re a female entrepreneur, look into local chapters of the National Association of Women Business Owners. If you are starting a plumbing company, check out the local chapter of a national plumbers association. You’d be surprised how many fields have associations. You can receive great product discounts, invitations to great conferences, and a network of peers. Entrepreneurship can be lonely, so cultivating a group of peers is important. And of course, there is the newly formed Young Entrepreneur Council (I’m a board member!).

In recent years, the gap between Caucasian and African-American travelers has lessened, making the African American sector of the U.S. population one of the fastest growing markets in the travel industry, according to the bi-monthly publication Black Meetings and Tourism. Based on surveys, polls and U.S. Travel Association research, Associate Publisher/Editor Gloria Herbert reports African Americans encompass 45% of the $125 billion in total revenues produced by multicultural travel. Not to mention, the economic impact of African-American leisure travelers is $48.3 billion. With the travel uptick among black Americans, as well as the blogger boom, has come a rise in unique voices weighing in on a bevy of travel topics—everything from must-have travel gadgets and sites to frequent to restaurant favorites and non-touristy sites to see.
