Remember, Every Boss has a Boss:

Now is the time when utilizing your networking skills may be the difference between keeping your job and having to search for a new one. According to Smith, establishing and taking advantage of strong relationships with senior management above your boss may result in powerful allies for your cause. “If you keep your performance at a high level you should always network and build relationships with your manger’s manager,” she says. “They will want to see documentation and how you took initiative as a step toward resolutions.” Smith does advise that those in smaller companies act more cautiously due to interconnected relationships that may leave you outnumbered. “At a small company people can be related or friends. In a large or mid-sized company you have more recourse and it’s more culturally acceptable to bring these issues up.”
