How to Get Rid of Junk Mail and Telemarketers Once and For All

Having to sift through your emails every morning and delete all the spam gets old and time consuming. And as if combing through your inbox twice a day isn’t enough, you get home to a stack of junk mail… only to soon be greeted by pushy telemarketers selling something else in which you’re not the slightest bit interested. Well, thanks to the Federal Trade Commission, we now know how to end all of those unsolicited mailings, calls and emails. Check out these nifty resources below!

You can opt out of receiving prescreened credit and insurance offers for five years or forever! To hold off for five years, just call 1-888-5-OPT-OUT (1-888-531-8688) or go online, optoutprescreen.com. To stop things forever, visit the same link and return a signed Permanent Opt-Out Election form.

Telemarketers are quite possibly the most annoying of them all. The federal government’s National Do Not Call Regristry is free, easy and it significantly reduces the number of calls you get for home security systems, super vacuums, or whatever the random item of the day is. You can register your number at donotcall.gov or you can call 1-888-382-1222.

Minimize your physical mail too with the Direct Marketing Association’s Mail Preference Service (MPS). You can cut out unsolicited commercial mail from national companies for up to five years. It does not, however, stop mail from organizations that do not use MPS.

Similar to MPS, there is also an eMPS (Email Preference Service). Just go to dmachoice.org to opt out of unwanted commercial email for up to six years!

Maximize your time and productivity by doing away with these little nuisances. You may also find this information on phone scams helpful, too.
