Founded by Charles S. Sanders in 1998, Urban Settlement Service L.L.C. is the second largest black-owned company in Pennsylvania. In 2006, Brookfield, Wisconsin-based Fiserv Inc. bought small equity interest in Urban Settlement. Sanders reacquired sole ownership two years later. Urban Settlement is a leading supplier of real estate information products to the mortgage lenders and government agencies.
Urban Settlement provides appraisals, title, settlement and closing information to the nation’s top lenders. In 2008, the company processed approximately 600,000 loan work-outs that helped thousands of families to keep their homes.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based company operates offices in Charlotte, North Carolina and Denver, Colorado. In 2008, the company reported sales of $50 million.
