PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Shaun White looks ready for the Olympics.
The defending Olympic halfpipe champion won the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix on Friday night, scoring 49 during a near-perfect run to beat Scotty Lago by 1.3 points.
It was White’s third victory in four Grand Prix starts this year. He unveiled a new trick in the process, one he hopes will help him find gold at Vancouver next month.
Lago finished second to move closer to a berth on the U.S. Olympic team. Greg Bretz was third.
Kelly Clark, who captured Olympic gold on the same mountain in 2002, won the women’s event with a score of 45.2, edging defending Olympic champion Hannah Teter’s 44.8. Ellery Hollingsworth was third.
