What is your “Extraordinary Impact?”
There are many phenomenal speakers today. I believe what distinguishes me is my ability to study my audience and understand how to convey my message in such a relatable fashion that it keeps my audience engaged. The ability to paint pictures with my words in the mind of my readers and listeners has caused my message to stick with others. Secondly, connecting with clients helps me serve them better. Lastly, aside from empowering listeners, readers, and/or clients with tools and information for change, I inspire and motivate them to make those changes.
What does being one of the BEMM 100 Men of Distinction mean to you?
Being one of the BEMM 100 Men of Distinction is an honor and a privilege that encourages me to continue to empower, inspire, and motivate those through my speaking in the areas of relationship and purpose.
What are some examples of how you turned struggle into success?
I turned my struggle into success after I battled depression from my divorce and being a single father of two gorgeous girls without an income. Not only did I decided that I’m not going to allow a broken heart to lead my life, but I was able to write a book and share my story—helping many others who felt stuck after divorcing and those dealing with depression.
What is an important quality you look for in your relationships with others?
One important quality that I look for in my relationships is consistency. Consistency not only wins my heart every time but also gains my respect.
What are some immediate projects you are working on?
One immediate project that I’m working on is the launching of my nonprofit, Love, Faith, & Grace Charities Inc. In addition to feeding, clothing, and providing shelter for the homeless, we’re launching a drug rehab program that will also provide counseling and education on how to deal with depression and mange anger.
What is the best advice you ever received?
The best advice that I’ve received was “if you pay close attention, every circumstance and situation can serve as a teacher.”
What is some advice you have for other men who want to make a difference?
You were born to solve a problem in the world. Discover what that is and work hard at it even if it comes natural to you.
How do you prep for an important business meeting and/or event?
The way that I prep is by first going over notes and brainstorming. Then I get in the mirror and practice my subject matter until I become one with my notes. I know that I’m ready when I filled my heart so much that when I open my mouth my subject matter flows naturally.
As a busy Modern Man, how do you unwind on vacation? Share a story about your best vacation.
Even as a busy Modern Man I understand that it is very important to unwind. When I’m on vacation I disconnect from work and enjoy nature. After recently speaking at a retreat in Jamaica, I stayed to enjoy the weather and the beautiful beaches that Montego Bay had to offer. Every moment in the water was enjoyed and I made it my focus to relax and enjoy nature.
If you could travel and stay anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Nigeria. I absolutely love the Nigerian culture and their way of living.
Anything else you’d like to say?
A man’s experience with God becomes his message to the world. You survived what you went through so that you can be a blessing to someone else. Someone is depending on you to do what God has called you to do. You were born on purpose for a purpose, so walk in it.
