Steve Stoute Talks America’s ‘Tanning’ With Jay-Z, Pharrell, Gaga In New Web Series

Record exec turned advertisement and marketing mastermind Steve Stoute is releasing his book “The Tanning of America: How the Culture of Hip-Hop Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy” today and in support of the book he has teamed with the AOL HuffPost Media Group to produce a web series called “The Tanning Effect.” The video series pairs Stoute with interview subjects Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Lady Gaga and Interscope Records head Jimmy Iovine and explores the relationship between culture and commerce.

In the trailer for the new series Jay-Z tells us how the makers of Crystal champagne turned their noses up at hip-hop, Pharrell talks about his Louis Vuitton eyewear collab was inspired by Biggie and Jimmy Iovine explains how Beats by Dre came to be. Check out the video here.
