Alvaro Muir joined BLACK ENTERPRISE in January 2008 as interactive media director. In his role, he is responsible for the ongoing strategic growth of BlackEnterprise.com, including content management, design enhancement, technical support and production, and video and podcast development. Muir collaborates with all levels of executive management and the editorial, broadcast, advertising, and marketing departments to ensure that the brand identity of BLACK ENTERPRISE magazine is seamlessly integrated online.
Muir has been involved in the interactive industry since he launched his professional career in 2001. Prior to joining BLACK ENTERPRISE, he was the associate media director at Atlanta-based Moxie Interactive, charged with establishing the company’s New York office. In addition, he focused on digital strategies and promotions for blue chip clients, including emerging-market outreach for several Nestle brands and online advertising initiatives for PUMA.com, the Website for the popular footwear brand.
Prior to that, Muir served as the director of interactive for Arnell Group, responsible for the development and execution of online advertising campaigns for top-tier brands such as Almay, Pepsi, Daimler-Chrysler, and Reebok. He has also held the role of senior interactive producer at award-winning digital agency R/GA, handling online project management and implementation responsibilities for Bank of America, Target, and Lowe’s.
Muir holds a bachelor’s degree in computer software engineering from St. Johns University and a master’s degree in computer science from Columbia University.
