Annya Lott

About Annya Lott

Annya Lott is the careers editor of BLACK ENTERPRISE magazine, overseeing coverage of corporate America, professional development, career management, and corporate diversity. She is responsible for assigning, writing, and editing features, and determining the editorial direction of the magazine’s Workplace and Diversity Watch sections.

In 2009, Lott co-authored two of the year’s most successful cover stories: the "100 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America" in the February issue, and July’s "40 Best Companies for Diversity."  In addition, Lott spearheads the publication’s health and wellness coverage, including in-depth editorial on ovarian cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, depression, and heart disease.

She also covers the healthcare and energy newsbeats for the Obama administration and helps develop content for the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit, an annual leadership conference for professional women of color.

Prior to joining BLACK ENTERPRISE, Lott was a statehouse reporter for The Daily Hampshire Gazette in Boston, where she worked closely with the newspaper’s editors handling several beats, including business, politics, healthcare, and education. Her public appearances include CNN and XM satellite radio where she discussed job opportunities and company diversity.

Lott earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College and a master of science degree in journalism from Boston University. She’s also a member of the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME NEXT) in New York City.
