Janell Hazelwood is the copy editor and reporter for BlackEnterprise.com, responsible for the grammatical and syntactical accuracy and uniformity of the Website. As a reporter she covers features and news stories. She is also the editorial researcher for the site and fact-checks all original articles posted. Hazelwood was previously a copy editor for Black Enterprise magazine, working across several beats, before she joined the Interactive team.
Hazelwood began her journalism career as a newspaper copy editor and page designer. She has also covered health, sports, and community news and has experience with designing and editing business, lifestyle, and national news pages. Prior to joining Black Enterprise, she freelanced for a prominent New York newspaper.
Hazelwood graduated from Hampton University with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism.
