John Simons is the senior personal finance editor at BLACK ENTERPRISE, overseeing all coverage related to personal finance and investing.
Prior to joining BLACK ENTERPRISE, Simons was a writer at Fortune magazine, where he wrote about science and technology-related industries with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. His coverage included corporate profiles, trend stories, and investment advice. He also wrote about a range of subjects for Fortune, including immigration reform, the emergence of personal DNA testing, and global warming’s effect on the insurance business.
Previously, Simons was a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, where he wrote about economic issues and the intersection of government policy and technology; and a senior editor at U.S. News & World Report, where he led the magazine’s coverage of the then-burgeoning arena of Internet commerce.
Simons has appeared as a guest on CNN, CNBC, the Fox network, MSNBC, and National Public Radio’s All Things Considered. He has also written for The New Republic, and Business 2.0.
Simons holds a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Northeastern University in Boston.
