Tennille M. Robinson is the small business editor at BLACK ENTERPRISE magazine. She is responsible for writing and editing features, and determining the editorial direction of the Enterprise and Motivation departments. She reports on small business and franchising news and opportunities, and interviews notable personalities for the magazine’s popular Backtalk column.
Along with her responsibility to the magazine, Robinson serves as a small business consultant for the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference + Expo, an annual networking conference for business owners and corporate professionals of color. In that capacity, she assists with covering the nation’s largest black-owned businesses honored at the Entrepreneurs Conference Small Business Awards Gala.
Robinson began her career at BLACK ENTERPRISE in 2006 as an editorial researcher. In that role, she assisted with reporting, researching, and writing some of the magazine’s most noteworthy features, including "50 Most Powerful Women in Business," "75 Most Powerful Blacks on Wall Street," "Top 50 Hollywood Power Brokers," and "Top 10 Cities for African Americans". In March 2007, Robinson was promoted to small business editor.
Prior to joining BLACK ENTERPRISE, Robinson was a promotions assistant for Clear Channel Communications in New Orleans. She launched her journalism career as a desk assistant at WWL-TV Channel 4, the New Orleans CBS affiliate.
Robinson has made regular appearances as a small business expert on WVON-AM’s Dollars and Sense with Curtis Monday and IM4Radio.com’s Mind Your Business with Andre Washington.
A graduate of the historically black Xavier University, Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications.
