President and CEO, The Executive Leadership Council (ELC)
Ronald C. Parker is president and CEO of The Executive Leadership Council (ELC). He has been a member of the organization representing global black senior executives at Fortune 1000 and equivalent companies since 1994. As President/CEO of The Executive Leadership Council, his primary focus is on ensuring that The ELC’s brand, programs and overall impact remain strong as the organization launches and executes against its strategic goals. These goals focus on increasing the number of successful global black executives and the pipeline of the next generation of global black leaders and an aggressive growth strategy, which includes global expansion and external advocacy.
In 2010, Parker retired from his post as senior vice president for human resources, labor relations and global diversity and inclusion for PepsiCo. As senior vice president with PepsiCo, Parker was responsible for directing the company’s global labor relations and diversity and inclusion strategies and its efforts to become a premier company of the 21st century. His involvement with succession planning, workforce analysis and developing the cultural competency of PepsiCo’s leaders forms a base of experience that complements The ELC’s aspirational goals to place more black executives in C-suites and on the boards of Fortune 500 and global 1000 companies. For nearly 30 years, Parker worked in the beverages and snack foods operating division and the corporate office in field and headquarters positions. He previously served as senior vice president of human resources for PepsiCo North America and was responsible for all human resource programs related to initiatives such as succession planning, organizational capability, labor relations and change leadership. The chief personnel officers of Frito-Lay, Pepsi-Cola North America, Quaker, Tropicana and Gatorade; Worldwide Technology Operations and the PepsiCo Customer Teams reported to him. Parker began his career as assistant to the vice president at American Quasar Petroleum. He then moved to the staff of Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, as assistant director of athletics in charge of national recruitment. He joined an emerging petroleum services company, the Western Company of North America, where he focused on national recruitment and employee development. He joined Pepsi-Cola Bottling in 1982 as human resources manager, and went on to hold numerous assignments across PepsiCo, concluding his career as a direct report to the Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo. Currently, Parker is a director on a number of boards including the Board of Visitors of Howard University’s School of Business; the Baylor, Scott and White Regional Medical Center – Plano, Texas; and the D&I Advisory Board of P&G. A native Texan, he earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Texas Christian University where he now serves on the Board of Trustees and chairs the Development Committee; he also serves on the International Board of Visitors for TCU’s Neeley School of Business. Parker is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and is a Governance Fellow, a distinction of excellence. He and his wife Paula reside in Plano, Texas, and have three children: Jonathan, Michael and Lauren and two grandchildren, Giancarlo and Anna Bella.
