[BREAKING NEWS] Chris Christie Endorses Trump And Why It Shouldn’t Surprise You

On Friday morning, New Jersey governor and former presidential candidate Chris Christie endorsed current GOP frontrunner Donald Trump.

Christie announced his support at a news conference in Fort Worth, TX.

“He’ll provide strong, unequivocal leadership. He will do what needs to be done to protect the American people first and foremost, both in the homeland and in creating jobs for this country. And he will make sure that people around the world know that America keeps its word again,” Christie said. “Donald Trump is someone who, when he makes a promise, he keeps it.”

This is not the first time Christie has aligned himself with someone known for their controversial rhetoric.

In January, Christie defended the racially charged remarks of his friend and fellow governor, Paul LePage. Discussing the heroin crisis in his home state of Maine, LePage referred to drug dealers “with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty. These types of guys, they come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, they go back home.” LePage then added that “half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave.”

Christie defended LePage, stating “We can’t judge people by one set of remarks they make.”

We’ll see if Christie will be given the same benefit of the doubt.
