For many women, a power look doesn't just end with the right outfit or shoe. It's a head-to-toe story of branding that tells who they are, what they do and how well they do it.

Putting that best face forward is important, whether they're closing deals, working with clients, traveling the world or starting that next venture. In today's image-conscious business world, make-up is no longer just for movie stars and glamour girls, as many working women recognize the importance of presence, accentuating their best features and embracing the power of femininity.

Fashion business veteran Gerard Murray has seen success both as an independent business owner with the School of Hard Knocks clothing line and with large corporations. After taking a brief hiatus from the industry, he resurfaced in the college licensing business as the president of Final IV Enterprises LLC, parent company of Tradition Ever Since.

With Tradition, Murray has carved out a niche by creating lifestyle apparel for HBCU’s. After severing ties with New Era in 2009, Murray and his partners—Carol Callender-Murray and Tim Gray—decided to take the independent route and the gamble has paid off. Tradition booked $800,000 in sales this past year and the company is projected to double that number in 2012. This year I have the honor of attending the annual Black Enterprise Golf & Tennis Challenge on Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 1-5) in Miami. Now, all I have to do is figure out what to wear. The problem is I haven’t played golf in a decade, so for this edition of Suit Your Life, I enlisted the expertise of my golf fanatic friends (a.k.a the pros) to help me put together a stylish and functional golf wardrobe for my weekend under the Miami sun. As I hope for no rain (but am always "boy scout" prepared), here are some of my recommendations to be stylish on the links. See you in Miami. —Gardy V. Guerrier

We’re already in mid-August and I just cannot figure out how this summer went by so fast. If you’re like me, you want to try to get as much out of these last few summer weeks as possible (officially, there’s only six left!!). This means attending every great to decent open air concert, BBQ, rooftop cocktail party, sailing excursion, pool party, beach day, and anything that sounds even remotely summer. In this installment of Suit Your Life, I’ll focus on those key summer items and garments I’ve used and plan to pull out again for every worthwhile activity we have left, including the Black Enterprise Golf & Tennis Challenge on Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 1-5) in Miami. It also doesn’t hurt that most stores are having their end of season sales so you’ll be able to rack up on most of these great items for up to 75% off. Thank me later. —Gardy V. Guerrier

MICHELLE OBAMA First Lady of the United States Mrs. Obama is a dynamic First Lady and partner to our nation's first Black president, Barack Obama. However, the Princeton University and Harvard Law School graduate continues to make her role as First Lady a memorable one. Though she may receive more press for her fashion influence, Mrs. Obama seems to much rather prefer using her clout for good to launch and support initiatives like Let's Move, which promotes exercise to battle childhood obesity and healthy eating, especially within underserved communities. POLISH PICK: Who's The Boss. This color is bold and engaging, just like Mrs. Obama. In addition to crafting a legacy of service, she has undoubtedly become a style icon, influencing designers and fashionistas worldwide. This color is perfect for anyone who appreciates a chic yet classic look.
