Digital thought leaders have no doubt that, when used properly, social media can be a significant cultural unifier, connecting people and efforts despite location.
Moderated by Alice Korngold of Korngold Consulting LLC, "Social Media for Social Good"—an hour-long panel discussing best practices to use when furthering a cause in the digital space—wasn’t short of generating great ideas. The panelists included Cheryl Heller, board chair at PopTech; Dan Savage, creator of the It Gets Better Project; President and COO of Digitaria Doug Hecht and Carmel Hagan of Common. Here’s how social media enthusiasts can use various platforms for social good:--–Noni Cavaliere

The workplace is changing fast. Technology is changing even faster. Are universities keeping pace with either one? Is the U.S. moving fast enough to train and educate a workforce to compete in a global economy? The pressure to innovate within corporations and in small businesses has never been greater. The shift from industrial age thinking to an adaptive, digital, innovative culture will not just be the responsibility of the employer but the employee as well. After months of beta testing, Facebook made their new Timeline layout available to the public today. Previously, only a select few users were able to upgrade to Facebook Timeline, which is a total redesign of the look, feel and interactivity of the social media platform. But what exactly makes Facebook Timeline different from all of the previous changes? For starters, it shifts the focus from merely in-the-moment status updates to a detailed overview of a user's entire life, raising the level of interconnectivity between users.

However, Facebook is providing users with a seven-day grace period to review and edit all their Timeline-accessible information. Click here to “get Timeline” now, but remember you’ll only have seven days to review your page before it goes live to "friends". To help users adjust to the changes, Mashable listed 10 things you need to know about Facebook Timeline.
