Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit Day 1 Recap
Posted on 27. Feb, 2013
The Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit has begun!
The day started off with women from all over registering at our registration table trying to be part of the 4-day event aimed at enriching, empowering, and educating women.
To start off the day, one of our corporate sponsors, Macy’s, launched a “Ready…Set…Shop” event which provided our attendees with an afternoon of pampering through professional makeup sessions, refreshments, fashion shows, personal shopping assistance and more. The first 150 shoppers received a surprised filled gift tote.
After the shoppers got back from their pampering, they attended the “Networking 2013: Making the Connections you Need” event hosted by NIARA CEO and Master Networker, Jodi Brockington.
Brockington guided our attendees on how to network and injected a bunch of fun games where our Women of Power tried to network with each other in different manners.
The night ended with an amazing dinner, the Women of Power Legacy Awards Dinner, which honored 4 of our community’s most outstanding women: Retired Maj. Gen. Marcelite Harris, United States Air Force, Founder and Chairperson of TV One Cathy Hughes, FedEx Express EVP and Chief Financial Officer, Cathy Ross, and legendary American educator Marva Collins, American Educator who received the first Barbara Graves Legacy Award.
All of the awardees were honored to receive their award.
What a great way to start the conference.
