Award-winning journalist Amy DuBois Barnett is continuing to build her impressive résumé, while also catering to the needs of black media.
Today, ESPN Digital and Print Media announced that the former editor-in-chief of Ebony magazine will now serve as an executive editor for ESPN’s upcoming site that will provide coverage, commentary, and insights on sports and culture pertaining to the African American audience.
“Amy’s impressive résumé across a wide range of publications and brands, as well as her leadership excellence, will ensure that the site will be at the forefront of news and commentary relevant to African Americans,” says Jason Whitlock, founder and Editor-in-Chief of the new site. “Together, we aim to serve audiences with quality and innovative journalism when the site debuts.”
Prior to her newest title, Barnett served as the leading lady at Ebony under Linda Johnson Rice and was responsible for the magazine’s digital re-launch and its first top-to-bottom redesign in its 68-year history. She stepped down from her title in April of this year and was replaced by award-winning journalist Mitzi Miller.
