Personal Finance Word of the Day: Frugal Fatigue

Howard University adjunct professor Dr. Robert M. Brown III spoke to Black Enterprise about economic stress and its emotional impact. The term economic stress might also bring to mind another related word—frugal fatigue.

Frugal fatigue happens when consumers get tired of pinching pennies and delaying gratification. Extreme frugality can often lead to splurging. Depriving yourself for an extended period of time could cause you to snap and completely blow your budget.

It’s important to allow yourself to have some room for fun in your budget. Saving money is important, but it’s also beneficial to treat yourself every now and then (within reason).
