MLB All Star Torii Hunter Talks Jackie Robinson

Major League Baseball is celebrating the legacy of Jackie Robinson this month in conjunction with the upcoming release of the movie “42.”

Today, we have a quote from one of baseball’s most socially active superstars, Torii Hunter. Hunter has done much to bring attention to the lack of African Americans in baseball. He discusses the importance of the man who broke baseball’s color barrier.

“I owe everything I have to Jackie Robinson. If he didn’t have the strength to go through what he did, and just walked away, who knows what would have happened? He was a great man, not only for what he did for baseball, but for society in breaking down so many barriers.”
