Every American has the right to live where he or she chooses to in the United States regardless of race, color, religion, disability, or gender. To ensure that your rights are not violated, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides the free publication Fair Housing: It’s Your Right. It focuses on common forms of discrimination such as refusal to rent, sell, or make housing available; imposing different terms on a loan such as interest rates, points, or fees; and denying housing for families with children under age 18. Sign on to the HUD Website at www.hud.gov/fhe/fairhous.pdf to download a copy.
