Southern cuisine has long been a favorite among foodies around the world, and Dallas has an evolving food scene that has progressed throughout the years as one of the top rising culinary destinations in the U.S. The city offers everything from barbecue, to tex mex to contemporary southern cuisine to satisfy everything palate. There’s truly something for everyone in this football centric city. If you’re planning a trip to Dallas, or simply looking for new options, BlackEnterprise.com has got you covered. Bread Winners Cafe

This friendly and casual bakery-café with a French bistro is a Dallas favorite. Cakes, pies and pastries are made fresh daily, perfect for those on the go or for noshing on the brick patio. It’s difficult not to arrive and find the place packed-especially during brunch, when the flat iron steak and eggs and scrambles are king and queen.

Babbs Bros BBQ & Blues at Trinity Groves

When it comes to barbeque, Texas does it better. Babbs is a casual counter service shop from a trio of brothers dedicated “down-home” southern barbecue cooking. The eatery is centered around smoked meats such as sausage, dry-rubbed ribs, brisket and pulled pork, offering sides such as coleslaw and cheesy mashed potatoes. Make no mistake about it: this is not a suit and tie dining attraction, as this traditional barbecue joint has checkered picnic tables and the option to sit on the back patio.

Hattie’s

If consistency is your thing, you’re probably going to like Hattie’s. The Bishop Arts District Restaurant with a Southern menu has been cooking up shrimp and grits in Oak Cliff for 20 years now and not a whole lot has changed since it first opened. The dining room is white, bright and full of light, and the staff that fills the place is always polite and professional. When Hattie’s first opened, it was a big enough draw to get Park Cities diners to venture across the dinner to dine. Two decades later, the restaurant is still a Dallas favorite.

Savor Gastropub

Savor, Klyde Warren Park’s main restaurant, is a modern gastropub located in the 5.2-acre deck park. Executive Chef John Coleman, a 23-year veteran chef, aims to serve simply prepared, fresh food sourced from top purveyors, offering diners a vibrant combination of flavors. The restaurant provides a chef-driven menu with shared plates in order to combine beloved pub fare with an exceptionally vibrant combination of flavors with a modern twist. A firm believer that food is social, Coleman aims to provide excellent food that draws people together to enjoy an overall amazing experience in the beloved downtown green space.

Stampede 66

Stampede 66 is the concept in Uptown from legendary Chef/Owner Stephan Pyles of Stephan Pyles Concepts which will be known as the best “True Texas” dining experience in the city. Local foods, wines and beers are showcased in an atmosphere of gracious Southern hospitality and Texas lore. Chef Stephan Pyles is a fifth-generation Texan who holds the distinction of being the first chef in the Southwest to earn the prestigious James Beard Award as Best Chef. He has created 18 restaurants in five cities over the past 29 years including Routh Street Cafe, Baby Routh, and Star Canyon.
