Cruise Critic revealed its 2015 U.S. Cruise Critic Editors Picks Awards. And whether you’re a fan of top-notch service and five-star restaurants, or hiking and kayaking in the Galapagos Islands, Cruise Critic editors have selected the best cruise for anyone who loves sailing the open sea.

“Our editors live and breathe cruising, sailing year-round, and covering every aspect of the industry — from new ships and programs to updated amenities and features,” said Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor-in-chief of Cruise Critic, during an interview with CNN. “With so many wonderful cruise options available, it’s never an easy list to narrow down, but these awards truly represent the lines that our experts have recognized as the best of the best.”

Viking Star, recognized for its similarities to a beautifully designed boutique style hotel, was named the best ship in the ocean category. The ship comes fully equipped with alfresco restaurants, a beautiful pool area, and a spa and  two-level Explorers’ observation lounge. If you prefer outstanding service, international cuisine, an unmatched dining experience and unique itineraries, Crystal Cruises was named the best cruise line for luxury.

Looking for a family-friendly cruise? Royal Caribbean International was awarded the best cruise line for families. With extensive activities and accommodations for all ages, including on-board nurseries for babies and toddlers; bumper cars, poolside movies, hip hangouts, a range of family-friendly cabins, and babysitting options for parents, there’s guaranteed fun for the entire family.

For those travelers looking for the best of both worlds, Azamara Club Cruises’ fleet: Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest provides a combination of luxury and destination-immersive cruising. Both ships are smaller in size, only holding 686 passengers, but offering a unique blend of amenities and destination-intensive itineraries over long cruises with lots of sea days.
