JOHN F. KENNEDY, 35TH US PRESIDENT (1961-1963)  	1962 Illinois is the first state to drop sodomy laws. 	1962 The D.C. chapter of ACLU gets the national chapter to change the policy which said there was no constitutional right to practice homosexual acts to a private act between consenting adults that should not be criminalized. 	1963 Black and gay civil rights activist Bayard Rustin organizes the historic March on Washington, where Martin Luther King Jr. makes the famous “I have a dream” speech.
