Golf Channel Gets New Logo, Extends Partnership with NBC

It’s out with the blue and in with the bold.

The Golf Channel is getting a new logo, the network announced Monday. The logo — which sets the word “GOLF” against the iconic peacock will be rolled out across all platforms beginning in May 2014 to coincide with The Players Championship.

“The English word ‘golf’ is recognized around the world and nearly in every language,” said Regina O’Brien, Golf Channel’s senior vice president of brand marketing. “With Golf Channel’s evolution over the past two decades from a cable television business to a global golf business, using the word ‘golf’ in our logo positions the business for further growth in the decades to come.”

The old logo was blue and circular, not unlike a golf ball, which made sense. But with the new multi-year partnership between the Golf Channel and NBC, a change was probably best for both parties.

Take a look.
