Be Selfish: Serve Others

Generosity does more than improve your world -- it makes you feel better

stronger, even as you take care of those around you.

Develop the habit of being helpful: Make it a point to frequently ask, “How can I be of help?” And check your motives. Guilt-inspired action can backfire. Assess what you can actually commit to doing, and go for it.

Express your gratitude: How do you treat people in service capacities — your waiter, your dry cleaner, your parking attendant? When someone does a good job or extends a kindness, do you acknowledge it? A spoken word of thanks, a note, or a smile and a pat on the back will make them feel good. And, like a boomerang, that feeling will swing right back around.
