Jerri devard resigns from verizon

Jerri DeVard, senior vice president of marketing and brand management for Verizon Communications, has resigned after four years of service.

During her tenure, she handled national marketing strategies for consumer and small business segments and in 2005 was named one of BE’s 75 Most Powerful African Americans in Corporate America.

DeVard, 48, decided to leave the company because of the four-and-a-half hour commute from her Manhattan residence to Basking Ridge, New Jersey, where Verizon relocated its headquarters in 2006.

A graduate of Spelman College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and an M.B.A. in marketing from Clark Atlanta University, DeVard plans to return to the workforce, pending the right opportunity.
Prior to Verizon, she held executive level positions with Citigroup, Revlon, and Harrah’s Entertainment.
