What time is it? According to Wittnauer International (whose parent company, Wittnauer Worldwide L.P., is No. 83 on the BE INDUSTRIAL/SERVICE 100 list with $35 million in sales), it was time for a sale. The company, and several of its affiliates, was snatched up by Bulova, the 126-year-old watch company. Certain brands, such as Wittnauer’s Halston, FUBU, and Zeus trademarks were not included in the $11.6 million purchase.

ABC Radio Networks partnered with Radio One Inc. (No. 17 on the BE INDUSTRIAL/SERVICE 100 list with $177.2 million in sales) under the banner of Urban Advantage Network to expand ABC Network’s reach in the African American community. The deal between ABC Network’s 163 urban affiliates and a majority of Radio One’s 65 stations will form America’s largest urban network.

Speaking of Radio One, they recently announced a partnership with satellite radio provider XM Satellite Radio to offer five channels of urban programming targeted to African Americans and urban listeners. Satellite radios allow listeners to access to radio stations normally outside their broadcast area.

Black ad agencies are in–according to Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) USA Inc. The firm hired African American advertising agency Burrell Communications Group L.L.C. (No. 3 on the BE ADVERTISING AGENCIES list with $179.4 million in billings) to meet the needs of “an ever-increasingly diverse consumer,” according to Toyota. The selection of TMS’ first nationwide African American advertising agency fulfills some objectives outlined in the TMS’ 21st Century Diversity Strategy.
