3 Black Friday Apps That Will Save You Money

The biggest shopping holiday of the year has some help this year in the form of apps. Instead of scouring the newspaper for deals, try these apps while you search for the perfect holiday gift.

1. Black Friday Deal Finder: This app, made by FatWallet, lets users search by store, item and price. There are more than 100 stores to choose from, and the app even allows users to scan store advertisements. Most of the deals will pop up between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but some stores are posting sales earlier. The app is available on the iPad and iPhone — and it’s free.

2. GiftsHD: Are you planning on making gift-buying a team effort? Well, this app will help with keeping everyone organized. GiftsHD keeps track of who you’ve purchased gifts for, shows other people the gift for the intended recipient and allows the user to set a budget for each person and alerts you when you reach the limit. The app is $4.99 and is compatible with iOS.

3. Consumer Reports Mobile Shopper: This handy app is designed for the bargain shopper who doesn’t mind schlepping from store to store to get the best deal. A $5 annual subscription will give the user the same experience on that one you would pay for on the web (valued at $30). Users can scan a barcode, search by product or look for top choices by category and receive expert ratings, reviews and shopping advice. The app is available for Android and iPhone.
