Least Expensive States to Own a Car


If you own a car, you know how expensive it can be to maintain it. If you are, however, one of the lucky people who own a car in one of the states listed on Bankrate.com’s recent report, you’re most likely paying less than car owners in other states.

The report, entitled Car-ownership Costs by State, analyzed factors such as the cost of gasoline, insurance, and repairs.

Iowa wins the top spot for being the least expensive state to operate a motor vehicle. So if you want to save on the cost to operate your car, move here. Every dollar counts.

The cost for Iowans to operate their motor vehicles is roughly $1,942 per year. This is $281 less than the national average of $2,223.
