Actress Tasha Smith Confirmed for ABFF

Seasoned actress to teach workshops at American Black Film Festival


Actress Tasha Smith is confirmed to teach an acting master class at the 2015 American Black Film Festival (ABFF). Taking place in NYC, June 11 – June 14, at the New York Hilton, Smith joins the elite festival that for the past 18 years has provided a platform of networking and educational opportunities for African Americans to advance in the film and TV business.

Smith’s workshops, known as “TSAW,” have become the go-to event for the acting community. With a squad of seasoned teachers focusing on everything from audition techniques and cold reads to camera work and character choices, aspiring and thriving thespians are given strategies and performance skills that can lead to successful work on stage and on screen. Working with students to access all of their emotions in achieving objectives for specific scenes, Smith’s workshops fill fast when scheduled in New York and Los Angeles.

Obviously, Tasha’s popularity and acting chops are a testament to her success of nonstop work. No stranger to TV, in 2000 she earned critical acclaim for her role on Charles S. Dutton’s The Corner as the drug addicted Ronnie Boice. She then maintained a slew of TV roles on everything from Nip Tuck and Without a Trace to The Game and Girlfriends. Nominated for a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a comedy series for her role on the OWN Network’s For Better or Worse, Smith has appeared in numerous films ranging from The Longshots, Why Did I Get Married 1 and 2, to Zane’s Addicted. A role on Lee Daniels’ upcoming Fox series Empire, finds Smith opposite Taraji P. Henson.

The TSAW master class taking place at ABFF will be ran by Tasha Smith herself on Friday June 12, 2015 from 1:30pm-4pm.
