Al Sharpton Disputes Claims He Was An FBI Informant

The New York Post and Smoking Gun are reporting that the Reverend Al Sharpton was once a paid informant for the FBI.

Sharpton allegedly worked as a mob informant in the 1980s.

As USA Today reported, Reverend Sharpton told the NY Daily News that he received death threats in an effort to get more work for blacks in the music industry.

“If you’re a victim of a threat, you’re not an informant – you’re a victim trying to protect yourself,” he told the paper.

But, The Smoking Gun states that Sharpton was confidential informant number 7 or “CI-7” and the information they obtained was based on hundreds of pages of confidential FBI affidavits and documents released by the bureau in response to Freedom of Information Act requests.
