African Americans were 80% more likely than whites to receive a subprime loan and were almost 20% more likely to go into foreclosure, according to a study by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition that analyzed data in the Washington, D.C., area. The NCRC also found that borrower income has almost no statistical significance in the likelihood of receiving a subprime loan or of facing foreclosure.
