Women’s History Month: Advocacy Group Honors Global Leaders at Library of Congress


On Saturday, March 7, the Global Connections for Women Foundation (GC4W) hosted the 2015 GC4W International Women’s Day Awards and Benefit Gala at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The event honored women from around the world, in leadership positions across industries, recognizing them for their contributions in supporting female empowerment and advancement.

This year, the theme was “Connecting for Women Empowerment,” and keynote speaker, Malawi’s first female president, Joyce Banda, talked about empowering the next generation of young women today to act on their purpose and power, and how women can join together around the world to drive change and innovation. Hosts of the night were Arise Entertainment 360 host Shannon Lanier and Farai Gundan, Forbes contributor and founder of FaraiToday.com.

Honorees are from companies and organizations including the United Nations Foundation, Intel, the Clinton Foundation, Black Enterprise, Samsung and more.
