When you’re starting your business, is it better to start it from home or a storefront?
It’s hard to answer this without first knowing what type of business you have. If you sell food or other perishable items to consumers, you’ll probably want a storefront. But if you’re selling widgets primarily online, a home office makes the most sense. I’m a fan of the home office. Thanks to the internet and the host of home office solutions available, working out of your home can be productive as well as a huge cost savings. If you opt for a home office, I’d recommend carving out a place in your home specifically for working. Trying to work out of your living room will likely lead to distractions and less productivity. Dress and behave as though you were going into an office. These things will help you get into the right mindset. Also, keep in mind that many businesses start out as home-based. As sales grow, you may want to have a physical presence and opt to open a storefront.
