Q&A

When you are the only employee of your business, how do you know when it is time to hire additional staff?

It’s easy if you think about the role of the CEO. As the head person, your job is to be the visionary, drive revenues and grow the business. You’re also the face and brand of the business, so you have to be out there making new contacts, following leads and driving things forward. If you’re taking so much time performing administrative tasks that you’re not out there selling your product or service, it’s time to look for help. Most businesses start out as one-person operations and just about any entrepreneur worth their salt will believe they can handle every single aspect of their business. But there comes a time when if that entrepreneur doesn’t start letting things go to focus on the big picture, it could cost the company growth opportunities.
