Here's some simple steps you can take to make you Small Business Green & save you some cash.
When your old appliances die out, replace them with products that have “energy star” ratings (which is issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy).
If you upgrade your lighting system, use compact fluorescent lights and high-efficiency light bulbs.
If you need a new company car (or truck) buy a hybrid vehicle. More models are becoming available to consumers every year and the incentives to buy these vehicles are increasing; the IRS has dozens of hybrid vehicles that qualify for a tax credit.
Re-manufactured ink and toner cartridges cost an average of 15% less than new cartridges. One returned cartridge keeps approximately 2.5 pounds of metal and plastic out of landfills. Re-manufacturing one toner cartridge also conserves about a half gallon of oil.
Recycle old computers and peripherals. Many computer companies such as Dell and HP have implemented “asset recycling†programs where they take back old stuff when you buy new ones. Staples and Office Depot are also offering e-waste recycling programs.
