BlackEnterprise.com recently met with Leveaux and asked him for some tips on how to be a genius at what you do.

YOUR Passion, is YOUR Problem
A lot of entrepreneurs are stifled with not getting the support they feel they deserve or need from friends and family which can lead to feelings of loneliness on the journey to greatness. But YOUR passion is YOUR problem. Focus more on the individuals whose support reaches out and surrounds you instead of the people who don’t. Everyone may not contribute or participate in your success. Spend time embracing the supporting cast of your passion not wasting time worrying about anyone who didn’t make the cut. You answered the call on your life, now do something with it!

Focus on a target audience
Do not become preoccupied with what others have said about you or what others perceive you as. You need to be about the business of getting your service to a target audience so the people who are praying for you can patronize you. Someone in the community needs your service and suffers when you focus on the unimportant things. Someone is praying for YOU! Not praying for your success, but praying for a solution to their problem which is where your business takes center stage, offering the solution. Focus on repeat customers: the ones you know and the ones you can trust. Turn negative chatter into positive affirmation statements. Stay focused on serving your specific target clients and remember —if your focus is to everyone, it becomes relevant to no one.

Ensure your customers know you exist and practice gratitude marketing
A lot of times entrepreneurs are yelling ‘I’m here! Pick me! Pick me!’ yet no one is listening because they have not positioned themselves well. Take time to build your business. Compile a list of people who are totally excited about what you do in the world and need your services. Then make sure to cultivate, nurture, and build that list. Show your gratitude when marketing by thanking your customers quickly AND frequently! Provide helpful information to them. Send personalized “thank you” emails. Look for creative ways to say “Thank you, I appreciate your business and come back soon!”

“You need to be about the business of getting your service to a target audience so the people who are praying for you can patronize you.” This statement right here changes the game Asa! This is where we navigate from being merely business men and women to servant leaders. The great thing about getting to this target audience is they will flood you with gratitude and you will know this is where you were supposed to be all along. Great article!

    • Asa Leveaux

Randryia service is an element that is often overlooked. Thank you for taking time to comment!

  • STERLING

I love this, “Spend time embracing the supporting cast of your passion not wasting time worrying about anyone who didn’t make the cut. You answered the call on your life, now do something with it!” Yes, yessss! Why waste your time and energy on the naysayers. Do what God has put in your heart and those meant to help you will show up.

    • Asa Leveaux

So glad you get it Sterling. Thank you for your comment!

  • Sheree Parker

This is a great article that highlights phenomenal tools that all entrepreneurs need to read no matter where they are in their journey. I can attest that I have experienced feelings of defeat or loneliness when I didn’t feel supported by my loves ones. Ultimately, I had to shift my mindset and this article is a reminder of why its important to focus on your purpose and not the actions of others. Great job Asa!! ~ Sheree Parker

    • Asa Leveaux

Sheree shifting of the mindset is indeed important. Thank you for your feedback!

  • Dominique Huff

Great job and advice with this article. Common sense goes a long way in buildng an empire. He’s right, your passion is your problem and nobody is obligated to support you, you must EARN it! We must recognize that nobody is required to do business with us and we have to remember, they picked us. Just like you selected the restaurant you ate for lunch to the person who designed your business cards, you picked them. Remember, your customers picked you!!

    • Asa Leveaux

Dominique you are correct when you say “your customers picked you”. Thank you for your feedback!

  • Deidre

True genius can not be stifled…I am a true fan of Genius Academy!

  • TaJuan Teej RealitytvCoach Mer

“Your passion, your problem” Yummy nugget!!!!!

    • Asa Leveaux

TaJuan I am glad you think so!

  • Alfreda

This statement right here, hit home. “YOUR passion is YOUR problem.” Asa
is changing the game of entrepreneurship through teaching his audience to FOCUS
on the objective at hand, reaching your target audience. Your passion is only as relevant as the people that are being elevated by it.

    • Asa Leveaux

Thank you for these words Alfreda!

  • Tamara Gooch

There were so many great nuggets within this article but what resonated with me most is this: “YOUR Passion, is YOUR Problem” A lot of entrepreneurs are stifled with not getting the support they feel they deserve or need from friends and family which can lead to feelings of loneliness on the journey to greatness. You answered the call on your life, now do something with it!”

This pierced me because I had to refocus and these words I had to remind myself as I was preparing to launch my first conference! I needed to focus on those who were supportive and not those who didn’t.

    • Asa Leveaux

      Amazing feedback Tamara. THANK YOU!

  • Rhonida A. Carter

I’ve heard many times people are waiting for you but this article has made it so clear. I have the solution my target audience is praying for. This is the necessary push to get it done. Many great strategies were given and I look forward to reading more. Always show gratitude and focus on those who need your services and are excited about what you are doing in the world. Only positive living! Great article!

    • Asa Leveaux

Thank you Rhonida for these comments!

  • Raquel R. James

Phenomenal article! It is indeed true that YOUR passion is YOUR problem. Remembering this key element and knowing that you are someone’s answered prayer are reasons enough to hold yourself accountable for your dreams and ultimately the success of your business. Thanks for the reminder!

    • Asa Leveaux

      Raquel you are most welcome.

  • Shuwana Leonard

On the personal side: Love and passion (I feel) are the key components to Asa’s success. He genuinely cares about those he serves. I met Asa 2 years ago. His passion and determination to see and help others succeed is what drew me to him and kept me attend his workshops.

On the coaching side: Asa has been tremendously gifted with the ability to come up with ideas and suggestions that will transform the way you does business and will propel you to the next level. The amazing part of the gift is that he doesn’t need to get back with you 3 days later. The ideas just come flowing out in the height of your discussion/conversation.

Finally: His accountability approach to reaching your goals helps keep you focused and on task. Asa is VERY serious when it comes to staying the course. If you’ve not done what you said you would do; the question then becomes, “Why not and what have you been doing that has caused you to stray and why have you been doing THAT?!”

Asa truly know how to bring out your inner genius. My husband and I are grateful that we have crossed paths with him.

    • Asa Leveaux

Asa, When I finally turned my passion into my service business, so many “loved my idea” and then copied it! I no longer waste my precious time on them. And over the past few years saw them try and fail. Great advise!

Mary I not only understand what you had to go through…I OVERSTAND! Thank you for reading.

  • Bee Smith

Great article! The statement “You answered the call on your life, now do something with it” is profound! I concur with Leveaux that all may not share your passion for what you do, because it is YOUR assignment. It does not belong to anyone else. Do your homework, reap the reward. What an awesome piece to encourage to move forward and get the best out of living one’s dreams!

    • Asa Leveaux

  • alpha754293

Interesting article. The thing that fascinates me most about this article though is that this is a person who’s business is to tell other people how they should be running their business. I suppose there’s a niche for that, while at the same time, in doing a quick internet background check, no where does it list his credentials. Hmmm….I wonder why that is.

Now, there are going to be some people that say that credentials doesn’t matter. But here’s the thing, what are your past experiences with entrepreneurship, listing both your successes AND failures (because you learn significantly more from your failures than you do from your successes)? And what’s your current average annual growth rate of your enterprise? (because I suspect that if you publish that information, people would be able to see whether the advice that you’re teaching other people is being practiced by yourself, and one of the ways to measure the result of “doing what you preach” is through the metric of growth rate.

P.S. Denary expansion only works up to a certain point. 😉 Just sayin’. (You run into the same problem as binary expansion.) (If you don’t know what denary means, google it.)

    • Asa Leveaux

Thank you for taking the time to comment. For anyone that does no know, denary is synonymous with tenfold. I do not wish to argue any point that you offer. There will be future articles in this and other publications that will tell more about my credentials, successes and failures and until then we consider that information to be safely guarded until we wish to become a publicly traded entity.

      • alpha754293

Of course, that’s your choice. But here’s the thing, you even said so in this article that “The result in your success is based on what YOU do, not what anybody else does. Nothing falls on the customer. The customer does not have the burden of buying from you—you have the burden of selling yourself, your service and/or your product to the customer.” I mean, you DID write that in this article, yes?

So, if part of the burden of selling yourself is selling your credentials to your customers – I mean, if you’re in the business of telling other people what you think they should be doing so that they can be successful in their business, then would it not behoove them to ask you for examples of your successes as well as your failures along with other credentials such as educational background? You would think that they should have a right to know, if/when asked.

Or are you electing to abide by the motto “do as I say, not as I do”?

On the contrary, certainly you can choose NOT to do that, but in my mind, as someone who is a potential customer, electing that choice raises more questions than it answers. And that’s fine. That’s your perogative, as it was mine to ask.

Why would you have to wait until you are a publicly traded entity before you can talk about your hard earned lessons? Is there something that you think/feel that if you disclose it prior to being a publicly traded entity that you feel might have the potential of jeopardizing the possibility of you going public? What are you “safely guarding”? ??? *dun dun dun* *dramatic music*

I would have expected that for someone who is in the business of telling other people how to run their businesses successfully, that you would at least have some kind of generic, non-descript boilerplate answer to this and other questions like these that basically, at the heart of it, does nothing to answer the question. I would have also expected that someone would expect these sorts of questions coming from their potential customers. Hmmm….interesting.

Well, thanks anyways. Good luck with all your endeavors.

        • Asa Leveaux

Thank you for the well wishes.

All of these things make sense! Some things in writing just make more sense than when thought internally. Not an entrepreneur personally, but I know many! Definitely sharing! The world needs to know this! How exciting!
