For HEROES Entrepreneurship Course Focuses on Veteran Women & Spouses


The American Legion and the U.S. Small Business Administration, along with Syracuse University will present a two-day small business workshop in Washington D.C. March 22-23 for veteran women, active duty service members and women partners/spouses of service members interested in starting their own small businesses.

The entrepreneurial training program, called “For Her Entrepreneurship–Resources, Opportunities, Experiences & Support” (For HEROES)–is being offered in conjunction with the American Legion’s 54th annual Washington Conference at the Washington Hilton.

The intensive two-day course will cover financial planning, tips on getting start-up capital, developing a business plan and tips on marketing a small business.

Those who complete the two-day program will also have access to an eight-week online “Foundations of Entrepreneurship” course, offered by Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). The SBA, The American Legion andSyracuse University have partnered to create this training program to help women military veterans establish success as small business owners.
