Steve Harvey To Kickoff ‘Oprah’s Lifeclass’

In the season premiere of the Emmy award-winning series “Oprah’s Lifeclass,” Oprah Winfrey and Steve Harvey have an eye opening and inspirational conversation  about the keys to success. The show will air Sunday, Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. ET.

In front of a studio audience and viewers participating worldwide via social media, Winfrey welcomes comedian and talk show host, Steve Harvey, to the ‘Lifeclass’ stage to share personal stories about how he lifted himself up from failure and paved the way to success.

Coming back with an all-new season of his nationally-syndicated “Steve Harvey Show” (September 8), the self-made man with a signature brand of humor doles out practical advice from his latest book, “Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success: Discovering Your Gift and The Way To Life’s Riches.” Lessons include: how to find your talents and gifts, let go of excuses, embrace fear and failure, and release what is preventing you from achieving your dreams. A second episode of Oprah’s Lifeclass, labeled “Ask Steve Harvey Anything!” will air September 14. You can check out an excerpt from his book on Oprah.com.

EXCERPT: Why Your Talent Isn’t Always Your Gift

OPRAH: I thought it was very interesting because in the book you say there is your talent, but then there’s your gift.  And until you discover what your gift is, you are really aimlessly going through life.  You’re not really on purpose.

STEVE:  No.  See, your talent, you can be a good accountant.  You can be a good lawyer.  That could be your talent.

OPRAH: Yeah.

STEVE: But your gift, your gift is something. See, your talent will allow you to have a wonderful career. But this is what I’ve learned.  Your career is what you paid for.  Your career is what you paid for.  Your calling is what you made. Your calling is tied directly to your gift. It’s the only way.

EXCERPT: “Stop Telling Your Big Dreams to Small-Minded People”

OPRAH: Surround yourself with other dreamers.  Let’s talk about that.

STEVE: You know, if you don’t surround yourself with other dreamers, here’s what I know. If nine of your friends are broke, you’re going to be the tenth one.  That’s it.  If seven of your friends smoke, you’re going to be number eight if you stay with that circle of friends. You’ve got to surround yourself with like-minded people. See, stop telling your big dreams to small-minded people.

OPRAH: Oh.
