Consistency will seal the deal

Bloggers, you want to make sure the brand you’d like to work with knows this is more than a hobby; hence, it starts with consistency. Create a content calendar. While you will have your franchise-styled content running regularly, be flexible as opportunities for impromptu stories always arise. If you are going to be traveling, schedule posts to go live in your absence. Brands want to know you’re not going to let the ball drop.

For too long women have been forced to figure out how to survive on their own. I wrote my book, SKIRTS in the Boardroom to equip women with the tools necessary to chart their own course. S.K.I.R.T.S. is actually an acronym that represents the characteristics that today’s woman must have to thrive in the boardroom, which ultimately represents any place of power that is male-dominated---a place where decisions are made and where you have a chance to show what you're made of. While it may change at different stages of your life, the boardroom is your playing field. It's also a place where the good ‘ole boys' network has, and continues to, flourish. It is time for the ladies to take their seats in the executive suite. So how do you position yourself to thrive in and out of the boardroom? Here seven savvy qualities that today’s S.K.I.R.T.S. must possess to go to the next level. (Pay attention, fellas---you can learn some fabulous tips, too!)---Marshawn Evans

How much do you think you need to save for retirement? According to a survey of registered investment advisors (RIAs) commissioned by Scottrade Services, the average American believes they need around $1 million to retire comfortably. However, many advisors say that most couples could need two to three times this amount to make sure they don't outlive their money. (Use this calculator from cnnmoney.com to estimate how much you need.) Regardless of whether you’ll truly need $300,000 or $3 million, The cold, hard truth is that many baby boomers and pre-retirees simply will not save enough money to retire comfortably. Thus, retirement in the traditional sense is simply out of the question. If you’re one of those people, what choices do you have? Here are some options to consider.---Lynnette Khalfani-Cox

White collar workers spend a significant amount of time sitting at a desk hunched over a computer. In fact, sedentary jobs have increased 83% since 1950, according to the American Heart Association. Between commuting to and from work, and spending the work day in meetings, on the phone, or rushing to complete projects, the one activity that seems the most expendable is exercising. To help get you motivated, BlackEnterprise.com compiled five exercises you can do in your office in less than 10 or fifteen minutes. Note: Before you begin any physical activity consult with your physician. Problem: Carpal tunnel syndrome can result from any repetitive movements such as typing or using a mouse. Solution: Hand exercises. Hold your right hand straight out in front of you with your palm down. With your left hand, grasp the fingers of your right hand and hold them back. Count to five. Repeat this substituting your right hand for your left hand.
