Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz

With eight American Music Awards nominations and five wins; seven Billboard Music Awards nominations and 10 wins; and 13 Grammy Awards nominations and 14 wins, it’s no wonder Alicia Keys is sitting with a said net worth of $45 million. And with the recent launch of Keys’ partnership with Reebok for her own shoe line, there’s no telling what her worth will jump to next. But one thing is for sure, the New York-bred songbird’s now two-year-old son, Eygpt Daoud Dean, is living the life under the mandated communal support of his parents.

Three months before Eygpt was born, Keys married legendary producer Swizz Beatz, properly known as Kasseem Daoud Jones. The former Ruff Ryders producer has influenced the entertainment industry since the late ’90s, and now can proudly say he’s part of America’s one percent with an approximate net worth of $65 million. Combined Alicia and Swizz sit on a total worth of $110 million, which Eygpt can legally say—if he could speak in full sentences—he’s entitled to. This curly-haired cutie may not be the richest baby in America, but he’s certainly at the top of the list.

Unfulfilled by his advertising job, Andre Woolery found refuge in his creative energies as a visual artist. Rather than just relying on paint, the New Jersey resident created one-of-a-kind murals of public figures like Barack Obama, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, and Kanye West among others completely of colored thumbtacks. As a preview to Woolery's first solo exhibition this February 23rd at Frontrunner Gallery in New York, here is a photo gallery of some of his most notable pieces. Click here to read Woolery's full story and follow him on Twitter @undre2g for all updates on his art and upcoming shows.

Each year some of the culture’s greats descend upon Atlanta, Georgia for the BET Hip-Hop Awards.  This year’s gathering was no different as a who’s who of hip-hop celebrities, as well as industry experts and avid fans, gathered to highlight the accomplishments of the trendsetters and trailblazers. Among those honored were LL Cool J, who received the “I Am Hip-Hop Icon” award.

As an added bonus, some of the movers and shakers in attendance at the 2011 award show got a chance to experience Hip Hop, A Cultural Odyssey, the 400-plus page coffee table book that documents the art form’s storied history and influence through original essays and photos. We’re already in mid-August and I just cannot figure out how this summer went by so fast. If you’re like me, you want to try to get as much out of these last few summer weeks as possible (officially, there’s only six left!!). This means attending every great to decent open air concert, BBQ, rooftop cocktail party, sailing excursion, pool party, beach day, and anything that sounds even remotely summer. In this installment of Suit Your Life, I’ll focus on those key summer items and garments I’ve used and plan to pull out again for every worthwhile activity we have left, including the Black Enterprise Golf & Tennis Challenge on Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 1-5) in Miami. It also doesn’t hurt that most stores are having their end of season sales so you’ll be able to rack up on most of these great items for up to 75% off. Thank me later. —Gardy V. Guerrier

Before reality TV took over, cable networks like BET, MTV and VH1 (along with an assortment of broadcast programs) used to dedicate hours to airing music videos. Now, there are only a handful of such shows around and fans are more likely to watch their favorite artist’s latest clip online than on TV. With that said, the quality and concepts for most musicians have gone down. Gone are the days of the multi-million dollar video shoot that was more than a lip-syncing affair and produced mini movies. Still in the midst of Black Music Month, BlackEnterprise.com takes a trip down memory lane with some of the most expensive music videos made by African American artists. You’ll also discover which famous family has a penchant for not only making records but breaking them (and budgets) as well. —Anslem Samuel

Most may view Nicki Minaj as just another rapper/singer/performer; but the multi-faceted entertainer is much more than that, she’s a bankable brand that’s only just begun to blossom. In a few short years, Nicki has influenced trends through her music and unmistakable fashion sense, and her involvement in cosmetics, television, hair and even the floral industry (Nicki has exclusive pink collection bouquets available on flowers.com for Valentine’s Day) has helped spike sales and visibility for a number of ancillary brands. Whether her detractors like it or not, Ms. Minaj is a one-woman marketing guru.
