As a professional career consultant, I work with many clients who haven't been able to reach their career goals, not because of the economy, but because they can't get past their own excuses.

Despite the dim reality of the current economy, people are still being hired every day. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "from December 2010 to January 2011, the number of unemployed decreased 600,000 over the month, and fell by almost 1 million from January 2010 to January 2011." While these numbers may not represent the vast improvement that we'd like to see as Americans, they do reflect the fact that someone, somewhere is moving from the unemployment line.

Take a look at some of the common excuses, and learn how to get past them to pursue your success. ---Aisha M. Taylor
