1. Shorter Career Tenure Greater risk and volatility are driving shorter career tenures in the workforce. The term, “business as usual,” is now a cliché. Individuals will be responsible for managing their careers with a great deal of uncertainty in the job market. Here is a look at the state of the U.S. workforce. The average U.S. worker’s median tenure in their current job is 4.4 years. The average number of jobs in a lifetime for men is 11.4 and for women is 10.7. Traditional organizations now only employ 55% of their workforce on a full-time basis.
