New iPhones in Store Today

Apple’s two new devices, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, went on sale on Friday. Less than a year after the iPhone 5 hit stores and, literally, days after the iOS 7 release, the company’s latest additions went on sale online at 12:01 am PT and then in stores at 8:00 am ET. They’re also available on select carrier sites, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.

There were a reported 1, 1417 people standing in line for the launch at Apple’s flagship store in New York City this morning. According to Gene Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray, this is the longest line at the flagship store for an iPhone launch, surpassing the line for the iPhone 4.

“The vast majority of iPhone buyers in line today appeared to be waiting for the 5S vs the 5C,” he wrote in an investor note obtained by Mashable.

Available in a series of colors, the iPhone 5C is priced at $99; similar to the iPhone 5, the more cost-efficient smartphone comes with an A6 processor. If you’re looking for a better camera and want to experience Apple’s new Touch ID, the fingerprint sensor in the home button, you should stick with iPhone 5S. Starting at $199, it has a faster A7 processor. (For more phone details, click here.)

For those looking to trade-in their old iPhone for a newer version, bring those earlier models with you to the Apple Store. The tech giant is offering credit on a new phone or to the store.
