Day 2: Vernice ‘FlyGirl’ Armour Delivers Dynamic Keynote on Leaping Into Your Purpose

Bringing an unstoppable reputation for inspiring all in her presence, Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour hit the Women of Power Summit Wednesday with her “Zero to Breakthrough” keynote address. After an introduction by Shelly Jones Jennings, Black Enterprise’s Vice President, Director of Digital, Armour shared her “7-Step, Battle Tested Method for Accomplishing Goals that Matter.” “God is just waiting for you to show up,” she said, outfitted in a combat pilot jumpsuit. “You’ve got to make your gusty move. You’ve just got to engage.”

As the first African American female combat pilot in the US armed forces, Armour created her own company VAI  Consulting & Training LLC. Speaking nationwide and writing books to inspire and motivate women, Armour made a million in her first four years of business. Bringing this success mentality to her Women of Power keynote, she packed it full of powerful informative dimes shining in a multitude of quotes and phrases. “The key is to acknowledge the obstacles. Don’t give them power,” she said, before going through her principles by adding quotes like, “A breakthrough mentality creates your reality.”

Walking into the crowd along with adding call and response moments featuring her yelling “Engaged!” And the crowd responding, “Cleared hot!” Midway through, Armour talked about her come up from pilot to inspirational success while smoothly stepping out of her pilot jumpsuit into a professional business outfit accented by a red jacket. Stopping to point out why she’s changing she explained, “Ladies, life is all about transition. We’re all in our flight suits.”

Ending her session with a multitude of projected big screen shots featuring her website VerniceArmour.com, she added, “What God has for you, God has for you. You can’t expect other people to understand your inspiration.”
