Where to Eat in the U.S. Virgin Islands

Harvey’s (St. Croix)
Harvey’s is one of the top local spots on the island. It’s virtually impossible not to feel at home at this mom-and-pop operation on Company Street in downtown Christiansted — which serves up island specialties like stew conch and fish in creole sauce. In fact, it’s Tim Duncan’s favorite St. Croix restaurant. Paintings, murals, photos and press clippings tracing Duncan’s meteoric career adorn both the interior and exterior walls at Harvey’s, creating somewhat of a shrine to one of the Caribbean’s most successful athletes. Make sure to try their pot fish and fungi, or the conch in butter sauce!

Zion Modern Kitchen (St. Croix)
Located in downtown Christiansted, St. Croix is an innovative eatery that sources 90 percent of its menu items locally. Guests have the option of dining off the menu or simply sampling whatever the chef prepares for the table. Helmed by Chef Michael Ross this semi new restaurant is a collaboration of old and new — a new chef, ideas and techniques combined with classic dishes and tradition. The menu features simple, approachable farm-to-table dishes and classy (and quite delicious) cocktails from famous local mixologist Frank Robinson.

De’ Coal Pot (St. John)
St. John may be small — but this restaurant packs a powerful punch! De’ Coat Pot serves up authentic Caribbean cuisine that includes shrimp creole, garlic herb conch, herb crusted steak and more. In fact, it may be some of the best food you’ll taste on the entire island of St. John. It has a large, beautifully decorated dining room and a bar that seats six, so it’s perfect for a quick bite, or if you’re looking to take your food to go.
