Public records have always been a good source of information on companies and individuals. Just last year KnowX.com, a division of Atlanta-based Information America, launched the largest online database of public records, allowing individuals and companies to conduct background checks, executive affiliations, residence directory searches and more.
“KnowX.com was developed to extend Information America’ s leading position in providing information to consumers and small business owners,” says general manager Jane Rafeedie. After registering, users can find up-to-date asset or background information about a specific person or business or verily that the public information is correct. For instance, KnowX.com lets you verify professional licenses for free.
Multiple database searches let you get more in-depth information. You can build the entire case history of a business, including the business name and address, bankruptcy history, lawsuits and corporate status. Similar information can be compiled for individuals, such as death records, lawsuits, real property transfers and related tax records.
Many searches can be conducted at no cost. Sales tax permits, aircraft ownership, corporate and limited partnerships and stock ownership databases can generate a summary of probable matches for free; however, a detailed report will cost $1- $15. Background checks, phone numbers, bankrupcies and the Ultimate People Finder cost 50 cents to generate a search summary. For more information, visit www.knowX.com.
