Let Me Coach You - Black Enterprise
Black Enterprise Magazine September/October 2018 Issue

When the idea for Motivation hit me four years ago, I envisioned a business-oriented, practical, yet inspirational, self-help section aimed at helping you to improve your personal effectiveness. Now, I finally get to serve as the editor of the section, which, under the direction of former BLACK ENTERPRISE Careers Editor Robyn D. Clarke, has become one of the most popular in the magazine. That also means that I’ll be answering your questions about how to achieve peak performance in your profession, your business, and your life. Just think of me as your executive coach.

If you are a loyal BE subscriber, you already know that the goal of the Motivation section is to help you to more effectively manage the person most responsible for your success: you. Before you can master your career, your finances and your business, you must first be able to manage and master yourself.

Success is not a matter of chance, or an accident of birth. There are specific strategies, habits, and tactics commonly practiced by successful people, including those profiled each month in our magazine. What works for them can work for you. I’m here to help you identify those strategies and motivate you to commit to using them in your career, your business, and your life.

Have you emerged triumphant after overcoming significant setbacks or disadvantages? Tell me about it; I’d like to share your success strategies in our Guts & Glory column. And if you have a question about how to make the most of your most valuable asset–yourself–don’t hesitate to put me to the test. If I don’t have the answer, I’ll talk to the “successperts” who do. In fact, whether it is a story idea or a topic you think we should address, don’t hesitate to write. I look forward to serving as your Motivation editor. I can’t think of a better way to start the new year.
