You probably recognize Chantelle and Danielle from our BE Holiday Gift Guide: Part One. The identical twin sisters graduated from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and are putting all they learned, plus their natural-born style senses, to practice as designers of their own fashion line, Dpipertwins. Dpipertwins has been featured at New York Fashion Week and Caribbean Fashion Week, and worn by singer Chrisette Michele, Miss Universe Leila Lopes, and TV star Towanda Braxton, among other famed figures. BlackEnterprise.com was impressed with their fashion sense and business savvy, so we had a little chat with the young entrepreneurs. Check out our talk, plus get a first-look at their Fall/Winter ’14 collection.
BlackEnterprise.com: What was the inspiration behind your Fall/Winter ’14 collection?
Dpipertwins: Through traveling to many places, we picked up bits of inspiration from architecture and nature. That Ankara print selected was an immediate choice. As you look closely, it resembles precious stones. The long graceful gown resembled a waterfall: very peaceful, comfortable, flowy and serene. We could not help but include print sequins and bold pink velvet pieces for the festive holidays. It was fun bringing this collection to life by combining different silhouettes and textures.
What’s the most valuable business lesson the two of you have learned as entrepreneurs?
You must do what you love, and love what you do; that’s the key.
What marketing strategy do you use to connect Dpipertwins to the consumers?

Where do you want Dpipertwins to be in five years?
Our brand has flourished in such a beautiful way, and we are so
excited to see what God has in store for us! We have many great opportunities to branch into. Clients continue to encourage us to sell in their countries, expand to children, menswear, etc. Through strategic planning, we look forward to fulfilling all of the above and continuing to create beautiful pieces for our customers.
